Metal Kit Plane Building Workshop

EAA Chapter 251 in Alamogordo, N.M. will be conducting a kit plane building workshop on Saturday, May 16th, 2009. It will concentrate on skills required to build aircraft constructed of aluminum. The class will be limited to 10 students and will cost $25.00 per student. There will be an instructor provided for every two students, as well as all necessary tools, materials, etc. All instructors have first hand experience in the construction of the RV series of aircraft.

The class will be held at the Alamogordo-White Sands Regional Airport and will run from 8AM until 5PM with a 1 hour lunch break. We have an excellent grill at the airport for your dining pleasure.

The morning session will include the following topics; plans and blueprint reading, facilities needed, tools, costs, time lines, and sheet metal techniques (edging, deburring, drilling, dimpling, countersinking, and riveting). The afternoon session will be spent constructing an individual airfoil project using most of the techniques discussed in the morning session.

For questions or reservations please contact John Wareing at (575) 434-3682 or jshockerw@aol.com. This is a great value and we expect the class to fill quickly so don’t wait until the last moment to sign up!
